Live map of the three satellite tagged Black-capped Petrels.

Here you can see a map of the 3 satellite-tagged birds. It is automatically updated once per day. At the top of the map you will see a small calendar. You can select a date to see specific locations on that day.

The satellite tags being used are small solar-powered tags weighing approximately 10 grams. They turn on for approximately 8 hours per day then turn off and recharge for approximately 24 hours. This means that we may not be able to detect a nest visit if it lasts less than 24 hours. Cameras are deployed at nests to collect such data however.
